Sacred Valley + Maras and Moray
The Sacred Valley, Maras and Moray tour begins with early pickup at your hotel in Cusco and a comfortable drive into the valley. The first stop is Chinchero, the weavers' town, where the colonial church rises on Inca walls and families show the ancestral art of dyeing and spinning with natural dyes. From there you continue to the Maras Salt Pans, a spectacle of thousands of salt pools terraced down the hillside, worked by local communities since pre-Inca times and still harvested by hand today, fed by a saltwater spring.
You continue to Moray, the striking complex of circular terraces the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory, where each concentric level creates a different microclimate to acclimatize crops from different ecological zones. It's one of the most photogenic landscapes in the entire Sacred Valley. Around midday you head down to Urubamba, in the fertile heart of the valley, for a hearty buffet lunch with fresh local produce before resuming the afternoon route with renewed energy.
In the afternoon you visit the living fortress of Ollantaytambo, the last Inca stronghold that keeps its original urban layout, with monumental terraces and stone-carved temples. The circuit ends in Pisac, with its archaeological complex perched on the mountain and its lively craft market, ideal for textiles and ceramics. Since the valley lies lower than Cusco, this full tour also helps you keep acclimatizing. With a bilingual guide and lunch included, you return to Cusco at nightfall after a day that brings together the best of the Sacred Valley, Maras and Moray.
