Rolling between mountains and endless skies

Trails that cross valleys, snow-capped mountains and horizons that seem to have no end...

As we drive along our ATVs, the road takes us through 40 kilometers of rural trails. The view opens up to a scenario where the snow-capped Verónica and Chicón impose themselves on the horizon, while farmland and small villages dot the landscape.

Moray: Inca Knowledge in Stone and Earth

Circular terraces that keep the ancestral wisdom of the Incas...

We arrive at Moray, a one-of-a-kind archaeological site. Here, the Incas designed perfect circular terraces, creating microclimates for their agricultural experiments. The feeling of being in the center of this natural amphitheater is indescribable.

Day

Maras, Moray
Highlights of the day: Nevado la Verónica

A sunrise on the way

The day begins as the first rays illuminate the Sacred Valley...

The day starts early with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. On board a tourist transport, we leave the city behind and enter the landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

As we ascend the road, the landscape is transformed. Small Andean communities appear among crop fields, and in the distance, the snow-capped Verónica and Chicón begin to appear.

Preparing for adventure

Induction and practice on ATVs before riding through the Andes...

After about an hour of travel, we arrive in Cruzpata, a small rural community in the Chinchero region. Here we receive a short safety induction and get acquainted with the ATVs on a private circuit. For a few minutes, we conduct test drives to make sure all participants are comfortable before hitting the trail.

ATV Route: A Feeling of Freedom in the Andes

40 km of trails between fields, mountains and snow-capped mountains that take your breath away...

We start the ATV tour on a dirt road of approximately 40 km, surrounded by fields of wheat, barley and potatoes. As we move forward, the fresh mountain air envelops us and the view opens up to spectacular landscapes. At times, the road gives us panoramic views of the Sacred Valley in all its grandeur, with majestic mountains and snow-capped mountains that frame the landscape in the background.

The local villagers, dressed in traditional costumes, greet us as they pass by while tending to their sheep and llamas. On the tour, we feel the connection to a way of life that has changed little in centuries.

Maras and its sea of salt pools

Thousands of white mirrors that reflect history and ancestral tradition...

As we get closer, the landscape changes radically: we go from green fields to a valley covered by thousands of stepped salt pools. Once in Maras we will put away the ATVs and continue the journey to the Maras Salt Works. The salt mines have been exploited since pre-Inca times, and to this day, local families continue to use the same methods to collect the salt.

Here, the guide explains the artisanal extraction process and we have time to walk the paths that wind between the pools.

Moray, the Inca agricultural laboratory

Circular terraces that reveal the wisdom and precision of the Incas...

Our second big stop is Moray, where we will go in our tourist transport, an archaeological site that seems to be taken from another planet. Here, the Incas designed circular agricultural terraces at different levels, creating unique microclimates for experimenting with crops.

The guide takes us through the different levels of the site while explaining the theories about its function. The precision with which this system was built continues to amaze scientists and historians.

Return to Cusco

Last kilometers of adrenaline and scenery until returning to the city...

After exploring Moray, we return in our tourist transport to Maras. From there, we will do our adventure on the ATVs back to Cruzpata, enjoying excitement and scenery. Upon arrival at the starting point, we leave the ATVs and board the return transport to Cusco. During the journey, the landscapes of the Sacred Valley accompany us until we return to the city.

A journey full of emotion, breathtaking landscapes and a deep connection with the history of the Andes comes to an end.

Is it for me?

If you enjoy adventure, breathtaking landscapes and history, this tour is for you. You don't need previous experience riding ATVs, but it is important to feel comfortable riding on uneven terrain.

  • Perfect for adventurous travelers. If you're looking for something different from traditional bus tours, this tour gives you a unique perspective of the Sacred Valley.
  • Ideal for those who enjoy nature. The tour takes you along country roads with spectacular views of the Peruvian Andes.

  • Before starting the tour, you will receive an induction and a practice session on a private circuit to familiarize yourself with the vehicle.
  • The guide will be with you at all times to ensure that you enjoy the tour safely.
